Wildfire Disaster Restoration

Details: The Paskwa wildfire burned through 35,285 hectares in the High Level Forest Area, severely impacting the community of Fox Lake, where key infrastructure and homes were lost.

Challenge

Access to Fox Lake was not granted until June 26, 2023, allowing for property inspections to begin.

Results

In total, Premier Fire and Flood Restoration completed fire restoration work at over 21 sites in Fox Lake. The final clean and demobilization was completed on October 25, 2023.

Approach

• Restoration efforts officially commenced on July 8, with priority given to two schools, teachers housing, and the community arena.
• As cleanup progressed, additional commercial properties were inspected and added to the restoration schedule.
